Llanferres Feeling the Love in February with Two Strong Wins

The Division 1 mid-table clash between Deeside and guests, Llanferres A went 5-3 in favour of Llanferres. Somewhat surprisingly, at first mixed, Deeside’s Cerys Brackenbury and Ashley Oxborough turned on the style and in a hard fought match got the better of the established and experienced husband and wife partnership of Dave and Jane Clough to take their event by 21/18, 21/17.

Llanferres A then travelled to Llangollen and whitewashed the home side 8-0. At third mixed the talented pairing of Andy Swash and Carys Jones were in particularly impressive form and took little time to overwhelm Dave Edwards and Zoe Pritchard, winning 21/5, 21/5.

In Division 2, home team, Hawarden, proved too strong for Buckley and comfortably dispatch their visitors to win by 6-2. Nathan Barron and Charlotte Ince starred for Buckley and at third mixed, turned on their staying-power to outlast Rob Jones and Lorna Kernahan, winning 19/21, 21/19, 21/16.

Buckley had greater success when they visited Connah’s Quay and came away with a 5-3 victory. Match of the evening was at third mixed which saw the Quay’s Megan Rowlands and Kris Paterson take on Greg Jones and Chris Dailey in a closely contested three game match. With the match see-sawing throughout, Rowlands and Paterson held their nerve in the deciding game to triumph 17/21, 21/18, 22/24.

Denbigh B’s Division 3 home match against Prestatyn C turned out to be a 7-1 rout in favour of Denbigh. Prestatyn’s only winners on the night was at second men’s when Adi and Matthew Jones dug in and showing great tactical awareness, held off the determined challenge by Deri Cottle and Sam Pender to win 21/19, 21/18
