Junior League Reaches Mid-way Point

Reaching the mid-point, the last Junior League meeting of 2018 took place at Mold Leisure Centre.

Up first was division 5, where Connah's Quay D and Christleton C took on Llanferres B for their first matches. Both teams came away with 6-0 wins over an ever improving Llanferres side. This meant that the final match between Connah's Quay and Christleton was the promotion decider. It was a close affair with Christleton edging out Connah's Quay winning 4-2.

Division 4 was up next and a battling Buckley B took the top spot by beating both Flint B and Connah's Quay C 4-2. After finishing in the runner-up spot on a number of occasions in this division, it was a well earned promotion for Buckley.

In the first matches of Division 4, favourites Llanferres A played a talented Deeside side and Christleton B took on the recently promoted Wrexham A. Llanferres showed why they were favourites by winning 6-0, whilst in the other match Wrexham were the surprise package beating Christleton 5-1. In the second matches of the group this time Lanferres secured promotion by beating Christleton 6-0. In the match for second place Deeside beat Wrexham convincingly 5-1.

Playing for promotion to division 1, Buckley A, who have been so close to reaching the top tier in the previous 3 rounds, gained the second promotion of the day for the club by beating Flint A and Connah's Quay B 6-0. Connah's Quay B then went on to beat Flint A, in what would be a tough day for Flint, again losing 6-0.

Finally onto division 1, where a newly promoted Christleton A had a tough opening match facing League leaders Mold A. Mold took that match 6-0. In the other match, Connah's Quay matched Mold A's performance by beating the Mold B 6-0. Christleton showed no side effects from their first match defeat, by showing Mold B why they were deserving of their promotion, beating them 6-0. This secured Christleton's position in the top flight of the league. While that was going on, the battle for 1st position was going on between Mold A and Connah's Quay A. Desperate to keep the challenge alive Connah's Quay came out fighting, but after some very exciting games Mold increased their lead at the top winning 5-1.
