The latest Table of the North East Wales Badminton League show Eros out in front in Division 1 closely followed by Mold A, with Flint Phoenix A in third, but with fixtures in hand.
So strong are Eros that they ruthlessly inflicted an 8 – 0 drubbing on visitors Rossett A. Adam Smith and Louise Cothier came closest to winning a match for Rossett, but class told in the end, with Phil Roberts and Tara Moorcroft seeing off the pairing to win fourth mixed by 21/17, 16/21 and 21/16.
Buckley head Division 2 with Hawarden in second place and Prestatyn A lurking in third.
However, so as if to emphasise their superiority, when divisional leaders Buckley entertained Hawarden, their team played superbly to inflict an 8 – 0 mauling on the visitors. Buckley’s Alison Ince and Helen Evans were in good form and wrapped up their second ladies match against Karen Wright and Tonicha Gibson with a comfortable 21/9, 21/16 win.
Propping up the division, Llanferres C came close to taking a point off guests Rossett B but in the end went down 3 – 5. Third mixed was the match of the evening when the Llanferres third mixed pairing of Lara Griffiths and Sam Smart dug in and in a three game thriller, just edged out Daniel Hilditch and Marie Jones, winning by 21/10, 17/21 and 21/18.
Holywell A top Division 3, closely followed by Prestatyn B and then Denbigh B in third position. Holywell B languish at the bottom.
At third mixed for Holywell B, Hilary Roberts and John Speed were in impressive form and taking the deciding third game, triumphed over Alex Much and Chris Preston to win by 21/18, 17/21 and 21/17.
Prestatyn B travelled to take on Llanferres D and went home with an outstanding 7 – 1 win. However is didn’t detract from Pauline Brooke – Rankin helping Hannah Harrison celebrate her 15th birthday in style with a fine 21/19, 21/19 win, at second ladies, over Prestatyn’s Karan Brennan and Ashleigh White. This was followed by a sumptuous a club Halloween themed buffet and birthday cake, on an occasion which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
