Junior League Info
The Junior League is a team event which runs between October and March, and involves teams from junior clubs throughout North East Wales and Cheshire. Consisting of 8 match days in total held on a Saturday, the Junior League is open to any player who is under 17 yrs.
The League is divided into five divisions containing 4 teams in each division (4 players in each team). Each team in any division will play two out of the other three opposing teams within in that division, with each contest match consisting of four singles and two doubles, so each player plays two events per match.
The top 2 divisions play 1 game to 21 points per event, which will take roughly 1.5 hours to complete both matches The bottom 3 divisions play 1 game to 13 points per event, which will take roughly 1 hour to complete both matches.
Over the years the junior league has proved very popular with players who have gained a great deal of pleasure from participating in matches, representing their club.
At the end of each season, the Gareth Coppack Team Tournament is held, which sees all teams compete against each other in a one day event. The handicapping format allows all teams to start out on a level playing field, with higher division teams being handicapped most severely. This tournament is a fun, but competitive day ,where players from across North East Wales can get together and compete.
