Since starting back up in September 2016, NEWBA Junior County Squad coaches have been using The NEW way coaching session plans, which are designed to help players achieve the various skills working towards 10 levels of the Sgiliau Badminton player awards scheme.
We are pleased to announce that all 13 players who started the season in the NEWBA B Squad have now achieved their Level 3 of the Sgiliau Badminton Awards.
Despite calling up two reserves, Division 1 title contenders Flint Phoenix A, proved far too strong for visitors Rossett B and whitewashed them 8 – 0. Sisters Tara and Zoe Moorcroft were in outstanding form and at second ladies showed their class with a convincing victory over Hazel Davies and Jo Drummett by 21/9, 21/9. Read more
Mold sit on top of Division 1, two points clear of Airbus, who however, have a game in hand. Ruthin A continue to push for the title and lie in third place but with having played one match more than the leaders.
Ruthin A played Rossett B at home and had little difficulty in accounting for their visitors, coming out 7 – 1 winners. James Howarth and the dynamic Dave Lovatt were Rossett’s sole winners when they upped their game and defeated Jeff Brown and Howard Robinson by 21/16, 21/16. Read more
There was a disappointing entry apart from the U15 boys singles with 13 battling for honours but the overall standard was high.
The U13 boys singles group was won by Matthew Swash (Mold) beating runner-up Piyush Pradeep (Cheshire) in a very close match 15-14,15-13. They were runners-up in the doubles losing heavily 5-15,3-15 to Cheshire’s Oliver Harrington and David Humphreys. Read more
