Connahs Quay’s event
Remember to get your entries in for the NEWBA Senior Restricted Badminton Tournament on Sunday 19 November 2017 at Deeside Leisure Centre. There will be Mens Doubles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles events.
This is a handicapped tournament, so whether your are a Division 1, 2 or 3 players, handicaps will be set to give everyone a good opportunity to progress.

There was a surprise result in Division 1 of the North East Wales Senior Badminton League when title holders Flint Phoenix A could only hold visitors Rossett A to a 4 – 4 draw. Whilst the men’s doubles went the way of Flint, Rossett took the honours in both ladies doubles events. At second ladies for Rossett, Rachel Twiss and Danielle Schoneveld were in scintillating form and comfortably dispatched Holly Gill and Catrin James by 21/11, 21/14. Read more
The Division 1 fixture between Denbigh A and Llanferres A could almost have been a replay of the matches both teams engaged in prior to their promotion last season from the lower division. This time home team Denbigh A showed the way with a close 5 – 3 win. Read more
Although home team Mold A had Welsh number one player, Dan Font playing for them, they found Division 1 champions Flint Phoenix A just too strong for them and were beaten 5 – 3. Match of the evening was at first men’s when Font and partner Jon Savory took on Cheshire star Matt Sprake together with the talented Joe Travers. Read more
In Division 1 Connah’s Quay will need to up their performance if they are not to spend a second successive season languishing at the bottom of the division and being threatened by relegation. Their visitors Rossett A were in inspired form and proved too strong for the home team, winning this encounter 6 – 2.Nicola Smith was player of the match for Rossett and with partner Sue Lord, at first ladies, comfortably accounted for Sue Chisholm and Sara Williams 21/5, 21/13.
