Flint Phoenix A look odds on favourites to take the Division 1 title curtsey of yet another fixture where they handed out an 8 – 0 whitewash – this time to strugglers Deeside. Only Allyson and Rebekah Wynn came close to winning for Deeside when they went down in three pulsating games to Zoe Moorcroft and Ro Spencer by 21/17, 14/21 and 8/21. Read more
Badminton superstars Chris Adcock, Jan O Jorgensen and Lee Yong Dae certainly are! They will be heading to Birmingham in less than three weeks to compete at the YONEX All England Open Badminton Championships.
In Division 1, Llanferres A, with the benefit of a home fixture dug in and took three events to three games, but still suffered an 8 – 0 whitewash in the hands of last season’s champions – Airbus. Jane Givelin and Claire Halestrap came close to winning for Llanferres when they took Lyn Brown and Kate Paget to three games before eventually losing out by 21/15, 16 /21 and 16/21. Read more

The Newtown Nissan WSS badminton tournament is open to all club and county badminton players. Starting with Men’s singles at 9am on Sunday 6th March 2016 at the Cwmbran Leisure Centre with ladies singles starting at 11am. The finals of the men’s, ladies’, doubles and mixed being held late afternoon, with visitors and spectators welcome. Read more
A very successful event showcasing the breadth of badminton talent in N Wales schools was held at Deeside L C. on 10th February. Matches were played with skill, enthusiasm and great sportsmanship.
The most successful school was St Joseph’s (Wrexham) winning the Years 9/10 boys, only losing one game; 2nd in Y 7/8 girls and 3rd in the Y 7/8 boys. Read more
In Division 1 Flint Phoenix A consolidated their lead with a close 5 – 3 away win at rivals Mold A. Match of the evening was undoubtedly that between Mold’s Tom Peace and Tom Sudder who were up against Ben Travers and Phil Roberts at second men’s.
Whilst Travers and Roberts took the first game by 21/18, Peace and Sudder fought back to edge the second 27/25. The decider went the way of the Mold pairing whose teamwork proved decisive, as they outsmarted Travers and Roberts to take the game by 21/19. Read more

The North East Wales Badminton League tables to 31 January show Flint Phoenix A (75 points) still out in front in Division 1 with Mold A (63) in second place and Airbus (60) third.
Struggling Deeside entertained Rossett A and found the visitors too strong, going down 2 – 6. However three matches went to three games, the tightest being at second men’s between Deeside’s Gareth Thomas and Chris Delamere who were up against Rossett’s Mo Ahmed and Adam Smith Read more
