In Division 1 Ruthin A pulled off a surprise 5 – 3 defeat of third placed Deeside and secured a place in next season’s top grouping. Andrea Billington and Steve Barlow were outstanding for Deeside and bounced back after the loss of the first game with a hard fought win over Sian Glover and Jeff Brown by 15/21, 21/16 and 23/21.

With just a few matches to complete, follow the link for the latest Senior League Tables. The top two positions in Divisions 1 and 3 are decided, but there is everything to play for in Division 2.
Airbus are champions of Division 1, with Mold A taking the second spot. In Division 3, Ruthin B take the honours and Flint Phoenix are second. The position at the top of Division 2 still has 4 teams Mold B, Buckley, Rossett B and Holywell A all with a chance of promotion.
At the other end of the Divisions, unfortunately Northop and Llanferres are relegated from Division 1 and Holywell B and Wynnstay Arms go down from Division 2.

Hawarden won the boys Top School Championships with their team consisting of Scott Oates, Andrew Oates, Martyn Smith Aldous and Jack Southall. The final was a high quality match where Hawarden prevailed over South Wales winners Crickhowell winning 4-1. Scott Oates got Hawarden off to a flying start by defeating Tomos Whiteman in 3 close games 15/12, 9/15, 15/12. Brother Andrew Oates had a tough match against Oliver Stansfield, however
Andrew came through the tie winning 15/11, 13/15, 15/8. Onto the doubles and Hawarden wrapped up the match with Martyn Smith-Aldous and Jack Southall defeated Matt Reynolds and Ben Jones 15/7, 15/14. Read more
The latest League Tables see Mold A and Airbus now tied for first place in Division 1 although Airbus, with the advantage of two games in hand, look odds on favourites to retain their title. Llanferres A had the doubtful privilege of entertaining Airbus and although three events went to a commendable three games, Airbus eventually ran out comfortable 8 – 0 winners. Jane Givelin starred for Llanferres and together with partner Claire Halestrap gave a good account of themselves in a tense three game thriller against Laura Stokes and Ellen Liddle before losing out by 12/21, 21/15 and 14/21. There was a small entry with most of the players coming from the Academy and Excellence Squads and a few from the junior league clubs. Competition was fierce and future stars were fighting to rise in the pecking order.
In the U17 boys singles semis Scott Oates beat Dhruv Bansal (U15) 15-10,15-10 and Andrew Oates (U15 beat Jamie Noble (U14) 15-10,15-8. Scott beat Andrew in a quality, fast and furious final, winning narrowly 21-18,21-19. The doubles group was won by Scott and Andrew 15-6,15-8 against Dhruv and Jamie. In the U11 boys singles Charlie Cahill won his semi 21-15 against Mihir Acharya (Cheshire) but was beaten in the final by Oliver Harrington 15-11,15-9.In the doubles Rahul Modha (Deeside) partnering Acharya had a very close win the semi against Cahill and Liam Hird (Mold) 27-25 and went on to win the final 21-9 against Harrington and Ethan Kaye (Ch). Tables have been updated to the end of February 2014. There are a number of rearranged matches to play before the end of the Season. If not done so already, please agree new dates for these matches and inform the League Match Secretary of the date. All matches must be completed before the League AGM on Monday 14 April 2014.
