In the battle for Division 1 leadership, Flint Phoenix A’s challenge to Airbus faltered when, surprisingly, they went down 6 – 2 to Ruthin A. Match of the evening was a thrilling three game win for Sian Glover and Howard Robinson over Rowena Spencer and Daniel Roberts at third mixed. Fortunately there have been no cancellations of matches owing to the snow in the last 10 days. The Senior League Tables have been updated with all results sent to the Match Secretary as of 27 January 2013. Airbus lead the way in Division 1 with a one point advantage over Flint Phoenix, but with a match in hand. Rossett A are on top in Division 2, but Connahs Quay in second place are close behind and also have a match in hand. Wynnstay Arms lead Division 3 with Holywell B in second place. The Wrexham U17 Silver tournament run on behalf of Badminton England attracted players from Cheshire, Yorkshire, Leicestershire and Midland and Welsh counties. The entry was small (18 boys, 9 girls) but the superb quality of play made for a very successful tournament. Read more
North East Wales Rhyl Junior Shuttle attracted a strong Cheshire entry as well as players from Conwy and Shropshire.
In the U11 boys singles Michael Pritchard (CQ) was runner-up to Conwy’s. Shamanth Moodalbyle. Pritchard demonstrated his continued improvement in winning all his group games except the final one which he narrowly lost16-21. In the doubles Moodalbyle and Mold’s Tom Lancely beat Cheshire’s Oliver Harrington and Ryan Evans 15-7,15-3. Read more
The Welsh Satellite series open Tournament is to be held at Deeside leisure centre Sat 16th & Sun 17th Feb.
Also on Sun the 3rd Of March the Association Junior Tournament 2013 for U11 U13 U15 U17’s will be held at Deeside.

Holywell A (-3) got off to a flying start against Mold B (Scr) with player of the match, Martin Gould and partner Paula Davey overcoming their handicap to record a fine win over the experienced pairing of Joe Pugh and Jean Rogers, 21/12, 21/16. Although the game ended 12-4 in Holywell’s favour it did not reflect the closeness of the match with only 30 points separating the two teams. Read more
